Study on Adsorption Performance of Surface Modified Torrefied Wood Flour Using Cationic PAM C-PAM을 이용한 표면개질 반탄화목분의 흡착성능에 관한 연구

Abstract

In this study, we studied the possibility of use as adsorbent of surface modified torrefied wood flour using cationic Polyacrylamide (PAM) and torrefied wood flour. We evaluated the iodine adsorption, ethylene gas adsorption and carbon dioxide adsorption in order to evaluated the possibility of use as an adsorbent. We analyzed the relationship between each adsorption performance and zeta potential. It was confirmed that the zeta potential could be changed by adjusting the concentration of the cationic PAM through the change of the zeta potential of torrefied wood and surface modified torrefied wood. Comparing the iodine adsorption, the ethylene gas adsorption, and the carbon dioxide adsorption, the adsorption of activated carbon appeared within a short period. In case of surface modified torrefied wood flour (TWF), it had lower adsorption power than activated carbon, but it showed continuous adsorption power. This confirmed the potential use of surface modified TWF as an adsorbent. We confirmed differences of samples showing the maximum adsorption ratio through each adsorption performance experiment. It is possible to develop a selective adsorbent through an input control of the cationic PAM.
